Flower Show

Gardeners are invited to exhibit their finest home grown cut flowers and cut leafy material, on Saturday, August 3rd at the CARNATION CITY MALL in Alliance, Ohio.  Area gardeners are encouraged to bring entries for the following classes, remembering that a specimen is a single, cut flower grown by the person who enters the flower.  Stem length should be at least 8 to 18 inches wherever possible, with at least two sets of leaves.

Saturday, August 1
8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Individuals can register and drop off specimens from 8:30-11 a.m.. Judging, which is closed to the public, will be held 11-12:30. Flower show open to public 1-5p.m.​

I. Specimen Classes (Containers will be provided)   ​

Annual Flowers
Daylily
Perennial Flowers
Bulb Lily
Rose

Dahlia
Hosta Leaf
Gladiolus
Exotics (Other) ​​​

II. Arrangement Classes.  The self-selected theme must be indicated on the entry tag for each design arrangement.  Arrangements must emphasize floral materials and design quality. Floral material need not be exhibitor grown.  Please remember that no artificial or accessory items may be used as part of the arrangement.  Backgrounds and bases are permitted. Awards shall be determined on the basis of design and freshness of floral material.  All entries in the Youth Division must follow the specifications for the Arrangement Classes, with the exception that arrangements in the Youth Division may be any size.  The Levi Lamborn Award will be given to the floral design that best uses the Scarlet Carnation.

A. Large Design Arrangement.  (Arrangement size limit is 30” x 30”)
                             1. Modern (may include Japanese or other abstract designs)
                             2. 
Traditional (emphasis on mass, line mass & Hogarth curve styles) 
B. Small Design Arrangement.  (Arrangement size limit is 10” x 10”)
                            1. Modern (may include Japanese or other abstract designs)
                            2. 
Traditional (emphasis on mass, line mass & Hogarth curve styles)
C. 
Youth Division, Entrants to Age 17.  (No size limit)  
                           1. Modern (may include Japanese or other abstract designs)
                           2. Traditional (emphasis on mass, line mass & Hogarth curve styles)

III. English-Box Competition.
A. Standard English-box, 11”x14”. Six large flower heads of the same variety arranged in  flower picks.
B. S
mall English-box, 6”x7”.  Six small flower heads of the same variety arranged in  flower picks.

*All decisions of the Judges are final.
*Entry cards must be filled out completely.
*Only Blue Ribbon winners are eligible for higher awards.

This year the Carnation Flower Show is pleased to welcome the Ikebana Club which will display 30 floral arrangements. Come and learn all about Ikebana and enjoy the beautiful arrangements.
